Woman's vision improved after attending a Save Your Sight Day.
A local woman whose vision improved after she was treated during a Save Your Sight Day sponsored by the Greater Lebanon Valley Lions Club told her story during the club's meeting on Aug. 28 at Heisey's Diner.
Guest speaker Linda K. Wolfe told 25 members and five guests how she obtained help for her poor vision and that of her daughters.
Attending the meeting were Lions District Gov. James Bolin and 2nd Vice Gov. Joan Rohrbach.
Wolfe and her daughter attended the Save Your Sight Day event in April. About 50 local residents received free examinations from Dr. Marotta of Alley Family Vision Center, Dr. Barnstable of Penn State Hershey and 11 interns from Penn State Hershey.
"Upon completion of my exam, it was suggested by Dr. Moratto that I seek assistance as soon as possible before I go blind from diabetic retinopathy," Wolfe told club members. "My information was given to Christy Deiner of Lebanon County Sight and then referred to Dr. Scott of Penn State Hershey. After extensive Examinations, Dr. Scott informed me of a drug that was being tested to halt the progression of my disease."
"After the first session with this newly discovered treatment, I found it not only to stop the progression, but I have regained some vision as well."
Another Save Your Sight Day is scheduled for Saturday, October 16, from noon to 3 p.m. at the Lebanon Middle School auditorium, North Eighth and Church Streets. Local residents who have questions about vision problems are invited.
